quick note

Yesterday, we were in Deep Roots, doing our weekly shopping (since I wasn’t here last weekend, being up north with family for Thanksgiving, we didn’t get our normal farmer’s market run in) [reminds me: this is a placeholder for posting about the Pennsylvania markets]. They still had turkeys available – organic, but not local, alas; Earth Fare had local ones available for order this year, but we didn’t order ours in time (the turkey is for our second Thanksgiving in January) – so we went ahead and got ours while we could. The checker picked it up, balanced it on the scale, and said to the turkey “Do you want to go home with this nice family?” We cracked up.

This is why I love shopping at places like Deep Roots and not big box stores. :) Second to this incident was the time that the checker looked at the lettuce we were buying and said “eh, that looks a little small; how about we knock a dollar off of that?” and did so.
